YWA Painters - Larry Potter and Juanita SmithSaturday May 12th, 11AM to 5PM
In celebration of the Tri-County exhibit, Stellar Gallery will be featuring two YWA painters during May's Sierra Art Hop, providing a unique opportunity to meet with some of the artists participating in the Tri-County Exhibit.
Larry Potter is drawn to the beauty and peaceful atmosphere of this mountain area. A skilled oil painter, Larry also experiments with pencil, pen and ink, and pastels. His inspiration comes from our beautiful mountain areas, still life, animals, and people.
Juanita Smith paints with the YWA painting group at the Gertrude Schoolhouse. Painting along side well-known YWA artists like Putt Putman, Anita Stoll, and Anne McClure has had a strong influence on Juanita, giving her the confidence to experiment with new techniques and exhibit her work.
The Gertrude schoolhouse was built in 1913, and was closed to public education in 1968. In 1979 the current owner, Harry Baker, offered the use of the schoolhouse to Yosemite Western Artists to use for meetings, classes, and workshops. Gertrude School re-opened its doors as the Yosemite Western Artists Gallery, and is still the official headquarters for the organization today.
Participating galleries present featured artists, hold demonstrations and other activities, and offer light refreshments.
Current participants include Grimmer Gallery, Stavast Studio Gallery, Stellar Gallery, Timberline Gallery, and Williams Gallery West in Oakhurst, as well as Anne Bredon's Looney Bin and the Paul Henry Abram Community Art Gallery in North Fork.
Featured artists demonstrate their work throughout the day, discuss techniques, and visit with interested visitors and clients. Come join us! _______________________________________________________ |
