“I paint because I love to, because I’m addicted to the art of pastel”

California artist Anne McClure began her career as a fashion illustrator and designer after graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology and Design in New York City, but her passion for pastel started around the age of seven. Her first pastel was Robert Burn’s cottage that hung in her Grandmother’s home.Anne's subjects include Western and Historical Art, the American Civil War, animals and nature, still life, landscape, figurative works and portraiture.

Anne works in a realistic style, softened by a gestured freedom in the details of the work. Her works are colorful, expertly rendered, and confident in composition and form. Although working with pastels is her current passion, she is also an accomplished oil painter, and has recently renewed her interest in painting.  Her extensive experience in art and design allows her to excel in any medium.

Anne is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America, the Pastel Society of the West Coast and the Alliance of California Artists. She has been published in “The Best of Pastel”, the “International Pastel Artist” and the “Pastel Journal”. Her work may also be seen in her home studio Gallery in Ahwahnee, California.
